In 1621 Pilgrim settlers and Native Americans celebrated Thanksgiving as a religious ceremony for three days. Each day giving thanks for the harvest that allowed them to sustain life for this early settlement located at the Plymouth Plantation in Massachusetts. Fast forwarding today in 2014, the residents of Whitman Park came together for Thanksgiving to honor those who also have pave the way for their community. Seventy five seniors were blessed with a delicious meal. This event was helped with donations and the preparation of food by Collingswood Presbyterian Church, Lutheran Social Services, 100 strong and United Neighbors. Each meal was packaged and delivered by special winged neighbors. The meals were not only appreciated by the recipients but many who made participated enjoyed the spirit of fun and laughter as they volunteered their time. So a special thanks to the members of the community for putting on their pilgrim hats by giving thanks, their time and love for those we call our seniors.
